In a groundbreaking move to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar) has unveiled Startup Qatar, an all-encompassing online platform catering to the diverse needs of startup businesses in the country. The launch, which took place at the Web Summit Qatar 2024, marked a significant milestone in Qatar’s journey towards establishing itself as a prominent player in the global startup ecosystem.
Empowering Startups Through Comprehensive Support
Within a mere six days of its inauguration at the Web Summit Qatar 2024, Startup Qatar has garnered immense traction, recording over 3,000 visits to its platform. This rapid uptake underscores the palpable enthusiasm among both domestic and international startups to capitalize on the burgeoning opportunities offered by Qatar’s vibrant entrepreneurial landscape.
“We are thrilled by the enthusiastic response to Startup Qatar, particularly from international startups eager to establish their presence in Qatar,” remarked Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al Thani, CEO at Invest Qatar. “This collaborative initiative underscores Qatar’s steadfast commitment to fostering innovation and driving economic diversification through entrepreneurship.”
As part of its comprehensive suite of offerings, Startup Qatar has facilitated the seamless registration of more than 100 businesses through the support of Qatar Financial Centre. Additionally, the Startup Qatar Investment Program, administered by the Qatar Development Bank (QDB), has received an overwhelming influx of over 150 applications during the inaugural event.
The investment program, tailored to attract tech startups at various stages of growth, provides crucial funding opportunities along with a gamut of incentives and support services. These initiatives, coupled with existing privileges and subsidies, position Qatar as an enticing destination for startups seeking to thrive in a conducive environment.

Pioneering Residency Initiatives to Attract Global Talent
In tandem with Startup Qatar, Qatar Manpower Solutions Co. (Jusour) has unveiled the Mustaqel program, a pioneering government-backed residency initiative aimed at attracting top-tier entrepreneurs and professionals from across the globe. Under this scheme, individuals excelling in diverse industries are eligible for a five-year residency permit, with the option of renewal, thereby fostering long-term engagement and collaboration.
“The Mustaqel program underscores Qatar’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of innovation,” remarked Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office and Chairman of the Web Summit Qatar 2024 Organizing Committee. “By providing a conducive ecosystem and essential support, Qatar aims to position itself as a premier destination for tech startups and visionary entrepreneurs.”
With the successful debut of Startup Qatar and the introduction of the Mustaqel program, Qatar reaffirms its status as a dynamic hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. As global interest continues to soar, fueled by robust government support and strategic partnerships, Qatar stands poised to chart new frontiers in the realm of technology and innovation on both regional and global stages.
